In terms of travel and adventure, I love Davao! It was a good choice by Pharmaton in making it the starting point for the Pharmaton MVP Challenge last March 5, 2011. The event was also graced by celebrity Derek Ramsey.
Making a mark in the national endurance race scene, the Pharmaton MVP Unleash Challenge officially started at the People’s Park in Davao where challengers Anthony Cuerpo, TJ Isla, Chok Martinez, Popo Remigio and Monica Torres started their quest for this once-in-a-lifetime challenge.
The race is participated by five challengers, three men and two women, all physically ready and pumped up for this endeavor.
This early, the participants' stamina and phyical strengths are already being tested. Day 3 consisted of more competitive action with a trail bike race and a 30-minute run towards Cagayan de Oro where the first pit stop was located. This was March 7.
After each pit stop is a well deserved rest. The next leg started in Bohol where a three-hour road bike challenge and another three-hour swimming challenge took place. This was followed by a kayak race at the Puntod loop finished off by a two-hour run at the Bee Farm Resort.
Tomorrow, they will set off for Danao. Specifically at the Danao Adventure Park, the five challengers will face a trail run, kayak slalom, and a mental challenge at the Danao caves.
The first week, or Day 7 of the challenge will be marked by another round of road bike and running challenges in Tubigon, Bohol. The delegates are then expected to set off for Cebu Capitol where an uphill bike and a night time run awaits.

Monica Torres, one of the ladies, says that “I personally can’t wait to see what the other challenges would be, but since this is going to be a month-long event, I’d rather take things one day at a time.”
“We’re all excited to get our games going,” added fellow challenger TJ Isla. The race started with a three-hour road bike challenge. From Davao, the course leads to Bukidnon with albeit another road bike challenge.
The five Pharmaton challengers start their journey as they traverse 2,907km of the entire country for 30 days. |
