1. Why are James and Phil Younghusband the ideal CLEAR endorsers?
We got Phil and James Younghusband because they are football superstars. Their names are synonymous to Philippine football and they are also key members of the Philippine Azkals team. Phil and James Younghusband are a perfect fit with the CLEAR brand. They’re confident, at the top of their game and they perform at the highest level on and off the pitch.
2. Why did you decide to focus on football? Are you positioning yourself as a sportsman’s shampoo?
With the global endorsement of Cristiano Ronaldo for CLEAR shampoo, it’s only fitting that CLEAR Philippines align especially given the uprising of football in the nation.
3. In its second year or partnership, what is CLEAR giving Tuloy Sa Don Bosco Foundation this year?
Aside from giving the fans a Football spectacle, the game will also be for the benefit of Tuloy sa Don Bosco foundation – the organization known for sending a Football team to the Homeless World Cup. This year we will be giving Tuloy 500 thousand worth of personal care products as well as 5% of this year’s Clear Dream Match ticket sales.
4. On Twitter, a lot of people are asking if you are bringing Cristiano Ronaldo here? Will he play during the Dream Match?
Cristiano Ronaldo is our global ambassador for Clear. He is the perfect example of the CLEAR Man: supremely confident, powerful and dandruff-free. Who knows maybe in CLEAR Dream Match 2?

The players that were selected were number one decided by availability, their passion for the sport, and of course their willingness to participate in such an event. We tried to get a variety, acquiring players from the UFL, past and present football legends, celebrities that play football, and also some of the top college players in the nation. While of course it will be competitive at the end it’s all for the love of the sport and charity.
6. Why is it called the Clear Dream Match?
The Clear Dream Match is the biggest football all star game in the Philippines where Team James and Team Phil battle for Clear supremacy. It’s a Dream Match because not only does the match consist of a very entertaining mix of players but because through the match we’re making some dreams come true through supporting the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Foundation.
7. What made you decide to make it a Phil vs James match?
Two teams headed by the country’s soccer superstars. The rivalry is on. And it’s not just a match for Clear Supremacy. The game favors the one with a clearer head: the one that’s more focused and determined.
The Clear Head-to-Head concept places the match front and center while still manages to communicate what the product can deliver. The message about the advantages of a Clear head is already present in ‘Get Your Head in the Game’ and it can guide the other executions as well.
8. Why were Fabio Cannavaro and Dennis Wise added for this year’s Clear Dream Match?
As the second installment of the Clear Dream Match the competition between the brothers has definitely intensified. So this year we wanted to shake things up by adding two international legends. We selected Fabio Cannavaro, because he is an Italian legend known and as one of greatest defenders of his generation, he captained and led Italy to victory in the 2006 World Cup. In the same year he also won the FIFA World Player of the Year, making him only the second defender to win the award.
Dennis Wise on the other hand, was a selection that was more close to the Younghusband’s hearts. Growing up, Wise was really a role model for James and Phil during their stint at Chelsea. Wise was one of the most successful captisn for Chelsea, winning 2 FA Cups, a League Cup and a Winners’ cup.
9. How will the lineups of Team James and Team Phil be decided?
Starting from July 10, people will be able to vote for their Team James or Team Phil lineups from a voting pool consisting of 50 players. From the 50 only the top 30 players will be included in the voting pool. Voting portal closes on July 9. Then the draft will take place on August 10th.
During the draft there will be 2 rounds. First of which is the round where both James and Phil will select 5 players each. Then the second round will be decided by randomly selecting players per position.
10. How is the first draft pick decided?
The first draft pick is dependent on the team with the most Facebook fan interaction. The thing different about this year is that fans can play a role in the fate of Team James and Team Phil. Fans can score points for their teams simply by tweeting with the #cleardreammatch hashtag, taking fan pics or buying clear men bottles. The team with the most digitally engaging fans will garner most points and also the first draft pick.
